We at JadeAvia.com were recently granted access to R&B legend Brandy performing for the first time in the UK in over 4 years! Check out what we thought of Brandy‘s long-awaited and much-anticipated performance right here!
September 24th saw one of musics most treasured female artists grace the UK with a performance at London’s very own Indig02… Ms Brandy Norwood. Known simply as Brandy to her true fans or rather her self-claimed Starz, she has joined the likes of other legendary artists to grace the Indig02 stage such as Lauryn Hill, The Wailers, Prince and Usher!
The very packed Indig02 was filled with not only R&B lovers but an array of eye-catching celebrities and musicians with the likes of Emeli Sande, Angel, Amplify Dot, JB (JLS), Jahmene Douglas and Brick City Cliq (X Factor) just to name a few!
Musicalize surely outdid themselves in ensuring a respectful and worthy selection of UK talent to support Brandy with the likes of the greatly talented Dora Martin, Ayah Mrar, Rachel Kerr and Mike Hough!
Opening the show with the infectious What About Us, the crowd were immediately in awe. Song after song, the R&B songtress repeatedly took us back to the year of 2002 and slowly but surely crept back in time to 1994 with hits from her self-titled debut with Best Friend, Baby and I Wanna Be Down (all in order of course).
Through witnessing her tour over in the states by the good graces of YouTube, the expected but much-appreciated Whitney Houston medley soon followed covering the late legend’s hits I’m Your Baby, How Will I Know and Dance With Somebody. Only halfway through the show the audience were now in full swoon and dancing effect! Perhaps proving to be too powerful, her adorning fans and respectful continuous rounds of applause had touched the singer so much she burst into tears holding her head in her hands.
However, soon after this she decided to bring to our attention the problems she had been facing with her sound. Of course, only those with a keen ear would of been aware of this from the beginning as it slightly dented Brandy‘s vocal depth. Think more treble and less bass. However, with the help of her spectators in full chant “get my sound right” the problem that had effected much of the first half of the show was quickly solved and led way to more cuts from her latest release Two Eleven.
In all, Brandy‘s performance at Musicalize was something not to be missed! Taking us back and forth through the greater years of music the vocal Bible as she is articulately named delivered… and delivered to immaculacy! Let’s just hope we don’t have to wait another 4 years!
